It is not precisely documented how Ludwig Boschert established contact with the company Hänggi. After the oil crisis of 1973, the mechanical engineering company required financial support from the bank, which was, however, denied. This was likely a stroke of luck for Boschert, as it allowed them to acquire the patent for the notching machine.

Shortly thereafter, Boschert expanded the machine to incorporate the 3-point guidance patent. This ingenious solution remains in use to this day and gives the Boschert notching machine its renowned precision and durability.
